so i got a heap of cool photo gear recently. photography is something ive always wanted to get into and never had the time or money to do it. but now, even though i still dont have the time or money, i have had a go at it! so i present you my first pic.

so we went down to adelaide to play a show last weekend, was an awesome weekend, and i had a ball. we pretty much went from canberra to sydney, then flown from sydney to adelaide.

on friday night, we went out for dinner at this cafe owned by a guy called Pete. Pete was putting on this show and cooked up a feed on the house for us. it was amazing, entrees, then mains, and beers, did i mention it was amazing? after this Pete took us to this little bar called 'The Gaslight'. It was pretty much a bar that had a houseband, and any muso could rock up and jam with them. So us having a few drinks under out belts, we got up and played a few songs. It was pretty fun.

The next day I pulled up pretty bad, but not as bad as Charlie who slept until like 3-4 in the arvo.

That night we played at this place called the 'Highway Inn'. It was more of a RSL club type thing with a bistro and pokies room etc. We played in this function room, good turnout, over 100+ people there. Pete's band, Saly and the Hired Help opened the show, and then The Saucermen played. Everyone got into it and good times were had.

Then after we packed out shite up we had a crew go into the city and we went to this place called the Crown and Anchor. It reminded me heaps of King O'Malleys (for Canberra people) but with a more music driven thing going on. We had a few more beers and done some shots, and then got out grove on to this pizza place (note this is around 3am) we had a couple of pizzas and then some jugs of jack and coke, then i fell asleep. Woke up in this taxi that was dropping us all home. This was around 4.30ish.

Woke up amazing the next day and pretty much cruised around until we had to leave. Was an awesome time and im really really really keen to get back down there. Anyway here are a few things I think deserve a mention....

drivethru
driving around town i noticed that you can almost anything in drive thru shops, from newsagents to bottleshops, from hardware supplies to fruit markets, you can literaly drive up to them, someone will come out and serve you and your on your merry way. pretty awesome.

coopers pale ale
adelaide (and probably the rest of sa) are mad about coopers pale ale. i love it. its their XXXX to QLD, their tooheys new to NSW etc etc. Everywhere has it, and its cheap. When we left Adelaide at 8am, there were guys drinking it at the airport in this cool Coopers merch shop/bar. Its awesome.

so we were pretty much walking around thinking it was the city, and then BAM! there is the beach. its awesome. having the beach, the city and the sticks all within 1 hour of each other is awesome.

lolly shop.
charlie and reckless got tattooed and while they did i had a roam around, and found this cool lolly shop that stoked all cool shit from the UK and America. They had pop tarts and dr pepper, heaps of lollies and weird shit that you just dont get here in australia. they also had Walsh's Grape Soda (for all the Entourage fans hahaha).

To drink, or to draw? To lay down, or to fight? When is enough actually enough? When is giving up acceptable, and when is it frowned upon? To fall, or to climb? To fail, or to succeed? To churn your guts for months undecided, or stick to your guns?

To point the finger or to pull the trigger?

Two years is a long time when you're skimming the serated edges of the curb..the gutter. Grinding your teeth on raw cement.

Grinding your teeth with the bums, the drunks, the junkies. Deciding wheather to excel, or give up.
Deciding wheather taking everything, and I mean everything, out of your pockets, and throwing it to the wind hoping perhaps that like a boomerang it will return bringing a voice more fortunate than the one which gave it such a low-key send-off.

Where do you draw the line? If you ponder for one minute the magnitude of failure, and the burden that comes with it; does that make it ok? Do you fall into failure like a hammock set up for the weak? Do you take those steps? Backwards in origin and lack of faith?

Draw your sword. Draw your fate with a permanent marker instead of the chalk you were given. Take two steps forget what brought you there.

This is hard work, dedication, faith, tears, depression, and glee.
This is grace; this is what we've become. A mechanism geared for forward movement with shrapnel in the works. It grinds and screams to be halted but still, we move forward. To quit or continue?

We strive to continue.
We strive for nothing short of total fulfulment. Hopefully each breath taken from here on in is a breath leading to relief.

hey people.

i was going to type a really really long blog about some really cool drunken story from the weekend in melbourne. but ive really got nothing. the show was good, good turnout, the bands were amazing..australian kingswood factory and the vaudevillians blew my mind, we played ok, goos people, good times, but there was no real stand out story for me! just an overall good time.

i got home after an 8 hr drive from melb which i drove all they way to find my amazing girlfriend have dinner cooked and she bought me the micaleff show on dvd!

i used to watch this show on the ABC and thought that it was the most underrated, witty show on tv. and now finally i get to go back and catch up on all 3 seasons about it. which just reeks of awesomeness!

now there is this one sketch which had me in tears how hours and ive been trying to find it on youtube to share for the last couple of nights and I FOUND IT! so here it is! enjoy this and ill try to post again before the week is over!

7 Reasons why the iPhone, or Iphone users are shit.

1. Owners brag to other owners about their awesome applications that only they have which have no real purpose like knowing what the time is in India.

2. people who buy them use it more for surfing the net than making phone calls! its a fucking phone people!

3.They always fuck up! The amount of people who complain they are faulty is crazy.

3.5. ...and when they do shat themselves its always impossible to get the phone companies to fund a replacement.

4. 99% of peoples fingers are too fat for the touch screen...how are you supposed to send a message with such a tiny keypad. 'but luke...if you turn it sideways the keypad is bigger' FUCK OFF MATE!

5. In all the ads and media for the phone, do you ever see them talking up the camera?? no...because it sucks!

6. According to Shane it has no bluetooth.

7. Everyone at work has one and thats all they talk about and it gives me the shits! Jam your iPhone up your IArse!!

Aussie Joins US Punk Band Set Your Goals.

Canberra vocalist Luke Carberry's life is about to turn upside down in which a bizarre turn of events has secured him as main vocalist of US punk-pop heavyweights Set Your Goals.

Set Your Goals, a San Francisco based band which has headlined sold out shows alongside Anti Flag and Alexisonfire has recently had issues with their current vocalist Jordan Brown. With him cancelling shows on their recent European and Asian tour for no valid reason. And as you would think, the rest of the band has had enough of it. One show into their run on Australia's Big Day Out festival, the band had obviously had enough of it and left Jordan in New Zealand's International Airport.

A few phone calls and a bit of panic later...up steps local Canberra boy Luke Carberry.

A simple yet bearded man, Luke took the phone call around 8:30 the night before the first Aussie leg of the Big Day Out tour.

''I was just watching ice hockey with my mates, chowing down on Souvlaki Hut when I received the call from Matt (Other vocalist from SYG). He pretty much said that they had issues with Jordan and he won't be on the Big Day Out tour. Initially I was devastated because I had purchased tickets to the Sydney and Melbourne shows, just to see SYG."

"Then I guess he just popped the question! Matt said straight out, he knew that I was a fan of the band and I knew all the songs, so he just asked me to try out at the Big Day Out shows, and if all went well, there could be a possibility of joining the band fulltime''.

Luke played the Gold Coast show to a packed mainstage. And there was no surprises that he nailed it.

So look out for local boy Luke Carberry with Set Your Goals on the East Coast leg of the Big Day Out festival. Set Your Goals third studio album ' Get the fuck up' will be release in March on Epitah Records.

so, ive been reading heaps of blogs latley and decided to bring my old one back to life! so ill see if i can keep it real even though i know that no one reads this! butr hey you never know!

had an awesome weekend. friday night was awesome, dead kings, louie knuxx, break even, deez nuts and amity afflicition at weston creek.

never been to the venue before and i thought it was pretty big compared to any other venues around. sound was ace. first of all, missed dead kings because shane and i decided to eat dead kingsleys (my joke of the night). got to the gig and met up with brett marcus danny charlie and jon. charlie had an awesome moe going on.

louie knuxx was pretty average and didnt even play dtd party. break even were impressive and i even got the album..been in my car getting a spin. deez nuts were alright, the kids got into em, but the band of the night were amity..although obviously they didnt want to be there, they were tight and sounded decent.

so sat...

had a beer around midday, then everyone came around to soph and my place. was a good crew with the guys from last night, and the coota people. we all drank a fair bit then wandered over to the icehouse. met up with more crew from around the place...and for once they opened hecklers corner. we started to heckle, then the heckles started to turn into taunts.

we started to lose so we decided to put shit on the goalkeeper. having 30 people yelling...HERBERTTTTT is amazing.

anyway we lost, went to tradies for dinner, then out to the city.

pretty much got to the city went to transit for beats, had some shots and seen brett. had a dance and shane grinded some dude who had a hooker. good times were had.

for me, i then went to omalleys to watch the cover band. i drank peach cider which was a good idea at the time. everyone kicked on at omalleys while dirtykash and i went to zambereos to see our old mate steve. certain jokes were had...epic time.

then we went to rev and it started to blur from there...met up with menzies and got our groove on. i was the first to get home with soph around 3...last to get home was moo and brett at 5.30...haha they had a good night!

sunday just chilled, the guys went to movies, and also the raiders. this weekend, double header at ice hockey so i know it will be huge!!

props to: ice hockey, chicken snitzel, jokes at zambreros.
sucks to: losing house keys, and spending a little too much cash.

tonight we're gunna party like theres no tomorrow.
